FAQ

Which is the best fence sprayer?

We’d be biased if we told you which was the best product on the market, however, our favourites are sprayers which are lightweight and have more than two spray settings. You can usually get the most out of these products as they offer versatility, as well as accessibility with being lightweight. You want to ensure that the product that you’re buying is going to be easy to use, and you have to factor in the weight of it too. Also, having multiple settings allows for better application, as well as avoiding any mess such as damaging your hanging egg chair, cantilever parasol, or anything else nearby.

Should I roll or spray my fence?

Spraying may not be appropriate in all circumstances, as you may need to roll product on – especially if it’s a wood treatment that really needs to sink into the fence. However, for most modern or new fences, you can get away with spraying practically everything. It’s less mess, and won’t go over your rattan cube garden furniture and cause you aggravation. If you are doing wood treatment on older fences, you may want to look into rolling, though.

Are fence sprayers worth it?

Absolutely! Fence sprayers are a cost-effective way of getting the most out of your paint, whilst also spraying your fence in a few moments. Just ensure that you keep your paint away from heat and furniture, as the last thing you need is paint on your halogen heaters, electric weed burners or rattan side tables.

How do I know how much capacity I need?

Most standard fences will require around 250ml paint per panel, and if you want to do two coats, you’ll need 1L capacity per two fence panels. However, if you plan to only do one coat – a small 1L capacity could easily do four panels in one go. If you have 6 panels or more, we recommend investing in 2L and above worth of capacity.

Do fence sprayers work?

They do! Providing that you look after it, clean it after use and buy one that has pressure built into it – then you’ll reap the endless rewards from your panel sprayer.

How do I clean my fence sprayer?

After use, ensure that you rinse out and clean your sprayer as you would after using a paint brush and plastic tray. If you leave the paint, oil or varnish to dry out – this can cause rot, as well as an unnecessary crust on your sprayer. This will reduce the lifespan of your sprayer and unless you plan to buy a new one each time – we suggest you take the time to clean it each time after use. If your nozzle still gets clogged up with paint, try using a chemical cleaner or paint stripper to slowly ease it out.

We have found a video that shows exactly how to use your fence sprayer to paint your garden fence.
